Closing Day Set for Sunday, April 19
Sunshine is in the forecast and slope conditions are expected to be excellent for Brundage Mountain’s Closing weekend, April 18th and 19th.
The month of March brought 61 inches of fresh snowfall to Brundage Mountain, with another 12 inches so far for the month of April. The mountain has seen freezing temperatures every night this week, which means the snowpack has remained intact and slopes are in prime spring condition. The snow base currently ranges from 56” to 84”.
“We want to go out with a bang,” said resort spokesperson, April Russell. “The forecast for this weekend is gorgeous, the slopes are in great condition, and this is exactly how we want everyone to remember their 2008/2009 season on the Best Snow in Idaho.”
Closing Weekend visitors will enjoy full-day lift tickets at the half-day rates. That means an Adult ticket (18-69) is $43, Juniors (12-17) and Seniors (70+) are $29, Youth (7-11) are $18, and as always, children 6 & under are FREE.
Brundage Mountain plans to run 4 of 5 chairlifts, which allows access to every run and 100% of the mountain’s 1,500 acres of terrain. Lifts will operate from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Food and Beverage service will be available in the Main Lodge and at the Bird’s Nest Yurt on the Summit, and Smoky’s Pub will be open. The mid-mountain Bear’s Den will be closed.
The Brundage Mountain Snowsports school will offer lessons. Reservations are highly recommended for the Brundage Bears Childrens program and Brundage Mountain Day Care services.
Keeping with last year’s tradition, visitors are invited to meet at the main lodge at 1:00 pm Sunday, April 19th to be part of the resort’s commemorative “Closing Day” group photograph.
In addition, Season Pass Holders from neighboring resorts will be eligible for even bigger Closing Weekend savings:
• Bogus Basin Season Pass and Tamarack Season Pass holders can show their pass at the Brundage ticket window and receive a $20 discount on a full-day adult lift ticket. ($32) (No Double Discounts)
• Anyone who purchases their 2009/2010 Season Pass now can use that pass to ski or ride the final weekend at no additional charge. Those passes are on sale at a discount rate through April 30th.

What happened to “will be assessing slope conditions and skier interest in hopes of adding additional bonus days”? This latest news sounds pretty final. Any chance we could get another bonus weekend? I’m not ready to hang em up just yet!

Hi Wayne –
Thanks for taking the time to write in and for your continuing enthusiasm about Brundage Mountain. In the past two weeks, we’ve received only 3 inches of fresh snow, and that was only at the summit, over a week ago. As we look at the long-range forecast, unfortunately, we see no new snow on the horizon. It is important to us that we be able to offer a high-quality experience when we consider extending the season beyond our original projected closing date, which was April 12th. We felt that this weekend’s conditions would provide that experience, but with warming temperatures and no new snow expected, the outlook for the next 15 days is not as favorable. If the forecast proves faulty and we got a huge blast of fresh snow, we would consider an extra bonus date in the future. As you may be aware, most Idaho ski areas are already closed, or are closing today. We wanted to add value for our season pass holders by extending the season as long as we feel confident that we can provide that top-notch experience.
