NEW for Winter 2009/2010
We hope you’ve been enjoying our recent improvements like the Lakeview Lift, the Bear Chair, the Bears Den and the delightful corduroy crafted by our new fleet of Prinoth grooming cats.
We’ve had lots of compliments on our beginner terrain park on Jammer, and we plan to add even more features to the park on Rodeo this season.
This year, we’re sprucing things up both on and off the mountain. Outside, it should be easier than ever to enjoy your turns, whether off-trail or on the groomed runs.
Engen Extended
The most noteworthy change is the extension of one of our most popular intermediate runs, Engen.
The bottom of the run has been extended right down to the bottom of the Centennial and Bear Chairs, so you’ll no longer need to ‘ride a flat’ to get from top to bottom of that part of the mountain!
Our growing crew of tree skiers and riders are sure to notice the extensive brush cutting that took place over the summer. More than 15 acres of brush has been cleared in areas around Meadow Bowl, Ranger Trail, and between the Blue Bird Quad and Alpine. That means those powder lines will be longer, wider and more spectacular than ever before! These on-mountain improvements are designed to give visitors more options for fall-line skiing and decrease the need to ‘ride the flats’ to navigate the mountain.
Frequent visitors will also notice the crisp new paint job on the terminals and towers of the Blue Bird Quad.
Take a Break in Comfort
When you’re off the slopes, you’ll notice the improvements to the main lodge immediately. The new paint job is the most obvious change. We choose natural tones to blend in with the mountain scenery. We’ve also replaced the roof with an environmentally friendly new surface. Inside, improvements to Smoky’s Pub are underway and expected to be finished by early December. These changes will not only create a more comfortable, cozy atmosphere, but should help improve the speed and quality of our service.
For those who want to take a break without heading to the lodge, we’ve added two new ‘log cabin’ outhouses for your convenience. One is located near the base of the Blue Bird quad and the other is in the area near the base of the Bear Chair and Centennial chairlifts.
Convenience at your fingertips
We’re also excited to tell you about some new guest conveniences. Not only can you buy our new Gift Cards and swipe them for purchases at any point of sale on the mountain, but you’ll also be able to purchase Brundage Bucks and load them onto your season pass. That means you can focus on exploring every inch of the Best Snow in IdahoTM – without worrying about having cash on hand to buy a snack or pay for other mountain services.
Snow Info Everywhere!
You can also get the latest snow and event info when you want it, where you want it. Whether you like to learn about big powder days on your mobile, in your e-mail, or through social media like Facebook and Twitter, we’ve got you covered. Just head to www.brundage.com/alerts and choose from a wide variety of communication tools to make sure you don’t miss a minute of the fun at Brundage Mountain.

Hi Erika –
I’m actually not 100% sure who that guy is – but we do have a lot of instructors who absolutely LOVE to teach powder lessons. Just visit the Snowsports School desk at the top of the stairs to the main lodge and Nicole can help you find someone great.

The Engen upgrade is stellar. Greatest improvement in years. Thanks for cleaning out the brush so tree skiing can be enjoyed. I’ve been to many resorts that don’t do this. Which is why Brundage will always be my favorite!

Hi Colleen –
Thanks so much for writing in. I, too, an excited about the Engen extension, I can’t wait to try it out for the first time and see how many new ways it allows us to explore the mountain. I’m also excited about the brush clearing, I’ve checked it out and the lines between the Blue Bird and Alpine look so much more accessible now! We’ll see you soon!

Engen extension? I’ve skied the last 3 days and can’t seem to figure out any difference at the bottom of Engen. If you ski all the way to the bottom of Engen, you still only have one choice… ride the cat-track back to Bear…what am I missing?

Hi D –
Sorry for the confusion. We are really excited about the Engen extension, but so far don’t have enough snow to groom it. : (
Right now, when you get to the bottom of Engen, you can look to the left and there’s a gully down there that will EVENTUALLY be able to be groomed and will take you over to 45th Parallel. You’ll see right now there’s not enough snow to make it flow downhill, which makes it completely ineffective. Hopefully, we’ll get some fresh snow soon and we can manicure that and make it work. Thanks for writing in, I’m sure there are some other people wondering the same thing!!!

Thanks April… I see it now. Just one more reason to keep praying for more snow.

I’ve never visited Brundage before but plan to be up there this weekend. Is it true that you allow free snow tubing on the bunny hill?
December 23rd, 2009 at 10:59 am
Hi there –
We’re so glad to hear you will be visiting us – unfortunately, we do not allow tubing on any of our slopes. We do have a nice tubing hill down in McCall called the Activity Barn – which even offers lift-served night tubing under the lights! Hope your enjoy your stay!
