Brundage Mountain Open
Two Feet of Fresh Snow Brings Full-Mountain Opening
Brundage Mountain Resort is pleased to announce that it will open for winter operations on Friday, December 18th. Lifts will run 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, and all mountain services will be available.
“This last storm system brought us nearly two feet of snow in just two days,” said resort spokesperson April Russell. “We already had a good base, and with this quantity of fresh snow, we’ll be able to enjoy the entire mountain on opening day.”
Brundage plans to open all 1,500 acres of terrain and to operate all five chairlifts. Early season slope conditions are expected, especially off-trail.
Brundage Mountain’s base measures about 33 inches at the 6,000 foot level and about 40 inches at the 7,640 foot summit. The latest forecast shows several more inches could fall Wednesday and Wednesday night.

“We are really excited to be able to put our seasonal employees to work and our local economy is really in need of the boost that ski season brings,” added Russell.
This opening is slightly later than average, but still ahead of last year’s opening date. Brundage Mountain opened on December 20th in 2008. Despite the late opening, the ski area had its second most successful season in 2008-2009. Optimism is high about this season’s potential, as well.
“What’s most important to us is to be open for the Winter Holiday,” said Russell. “Children are out of school, families have time off to spend together and we’re thrilled they’ll be able to make new memories with us this holiday at Brundage Mountain.”

I’m just curious, what is meant by “the ski area had its second most successful season in 2008-2009″? I’m assuming this is total snowfall? Can you eleborate as to what made it the second most successful season, if it means snow totals can you say how much?

IT IS FINALLY OPENING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SEE YOU ON FRIDAY WITH MY KILLER BACKFLIP

Hi Devin –
Great question! I apologize if that statement was unclear. Last year’s snowfall was far from second best, in fact, it was below average. That statement refers to the financial performance of the business, rather than the slope conditions. Many of the news outlets who report on Brundage Mountain have been asking questions about whether getting a later start to the season is bad for the resort financially, and I was pointing out that it is still possible to have a profitable season as long as we’re open for the holiday period and run a tight operation, as we do here at Brundage Mountain.

BRundage Mountain should get a shuttle that goes from town up to the mountain, seriously!
December 17th, 2009 at 4:38 am
Hi Dillon –
Brundage is working with Valley County Transit in order to see if a shuttle to Brundage would be viable in the near future.
December 17th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Thats terrific!
Hopefully it works out.
December 17th, 2009 at 10:31 am
Would the near future be sometime around christmas break
December 17th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Hi Colton –
If only we could predict the weather! It’s all snow dependent, so your guess is as good as mine.
December 17th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
I meant the bus?
December 17th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
Hi Colton –
I don’t expect any shuttle developments to happen that quickly, but if you’re looking for a ride to the mountain, you might try posting something on our Facebook page to see if you know someone who comes up regularly.
December 17th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
Oh great!! That’ll be great if there’s from McCall to Brundage. Keep us up to date.
Ill be glad to be on boards before Christmas. Thats good news for sure.
December 17th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
To Colton:
Check yahoo groups too. Sometimes there’s people out there in this area that are looking for other people to go do outdoor activities.
December 17th, 2009 at 10:14 pm

December 17th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
How are the roads going up???
December 18th, 2009 at 4:43 am
Hi Kyle –
We are still waiting on some more snowfall before we will have enough snow to build terrain features. Keep an eye on the forecast!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:47 am
Hi Maison –
The roads are plowed every day, but there are some slick spots, so please use caution and definitely take it slow around the corners.
December 18th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
