Cozy up in Smoky’s Pub…

122809.3As the holiday season heats up and those leg muscles start to get a little sore, many of our visitors are seeking refuge in the newly-remodeled Smoky’s Pub.

The improvements will strike you the moment you walk in the door. First of all, the door is no longer blocked by the line at the bar. We’ve knocked down a couple walls and built a brand new bar in the back, so it’s easy to enter and more natural light filters in to the room.

122809.2You’ll also find seating AT the bar, for those who like to belly up and take a breather in a relaxing adult-only space.

122809.4For those who want to take a break but still keep tabs on the action on the mountain – there’s plenty of seating right in front of our new energy-efficient, pan0ramic windows.

122809.5We’ve also installed new tables, all new fixtures and brand new paint and carpet to give the space a fresh, cozy feel.

122809.1With the expanded seating, Smoky’s Pub has also expanded its menu. The chicken nachos, longhorn ribs and margherita pizza are just a few of the favorite new items.

So stop by the next time you could use a breather or a good meal and let us know what you think of the changes.

Very, very nice. Have been in twice for lunch. Love the warm open feeling. My only constructive criticism would be to encourage a wider selction of food items. I miss the soups and fries. A cup of soup on a cold day can really hit the spot (along with a cold beer). I would also suggest some lower calorie items. Otherwise, the improvements are significant and much appreciated.

Thanks, Bill. Those are great suggestions, I will be sure to pass them on to the Smoky’s crew!

Lovin’ Smokey’s folks!! Great layout and use of space. Is that bar top remnants of McCall’s old bowling alley? One way or the other….it is nice! I am very much looking forward to sipping brew or a cocktail this season! Thanks for dropping the hammer and fixin’ that place up…and for going energy efficient on the windows…”green” is good!
Pretty stoked you’ve got some Salmon River Brewery beer on tap too! =)

I miss having the “cold lunch” room though. I understand this is a better option for making sure my favorite resort makes enough money to stay open. However, it’s really tough to find a place to sit in the cafeteria now. If you sit where someone has left their stuff, they get a little snippy with you for taking their spot. And their is stuff all over the place with makes it tough to navigate with a tray of food.

    Hi Colleen –
Thanks for writing in. I can understand your frustration, it does get very busy in the cafeteria over the holiday season, especially on holiday weekends. We’ve been trying a lot of different things to relieve that congestion, by enclosing and heated space on the third floor deck, building the Bears Den last year and operating the Birds Nest for the entire holiday period. Also, Smoky’s has been filled to capacity at lunchtime, so we’re obviously using every square foot we have. We will continue to look for more new ways to accommodate our holiday visits and welcome any suggestions our blog visitors might have!

    Hi Matt!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts – you know what a challenge it is to work in a tight space and we appreciate the compliments! We’re making a big effort to include energy efficient retro-fits in our improvement projects whenever possible, and I don’t think that was the old bowling alley – although that would have been really cool. I have heard some people talking about the Buzz Buzz Porter, and they seem to really like it. That goes double for me : )

Hey Brundage, I have to admit I don’t know how to ski and may never know. However, we love to come up to the hill on a nice sunny day and just take in the scenery and visit with folks. But, the main reason we also like to visit the hill is to take in a couple of your famous Bloody Mary’s, so whatever you do please KEEP the real deal Bloody Mary, no imposters on your menu. Thanks for listening. Happy trails!

The new bar is great! I was surprised to see that it was opened up from the crowded bar area last year. My favorite is the red pepper soup w/ Gouda cheese,up top in the yert. The best ever! But, $6 a bowl? I now it must be a pain to haul all that stuff up there on the lift. But could the price come down a little?
Thanks! I did notice how nice all the employee’s were this past Sunday. You guys must have had a talk with your crew! It is appreciated!! Keep up the good work!!
