Snow Piles Up at Brundage Mountain, Bonus Weekends Look Promising

McCALL, ID – Winter is far from over at Brundage Mountain. Persistent storms have dropped more than 4 feet of fresh snow between March 1 – March 17.

“Thanks to our elevation and cold air patterns, we’ve avoided the rain that’s been hitting other areas,” said resort spokesperson, April Russell. “Our base is the deepest it’s been all season and we’re optimistic that we will be able to extend our season into the month of May.”

Brundage Mountain expects to operate seven days a week through Sunday, April 10th, then move to weekend-only operations for as long as snow conditions permit.

“The past several years, we’ve been able to offer Bonus Weekends all the way into the month of May,” added Russell. “One of these years, we’d like to see if we can make it until June.”

This morning, we woke up to another fresh coat of snow, which by noon has all but melted away. Halfway through the winter, I decided there would probably not be any snowboarding trips for me this season, and I resigned myself to taking this year off. Four feet of snow at Brundage in March alone have tempted me to regret that decision, and there is no question I have experienced a dose of withdrawal. At this point, the most I can do is look forward to the next La Niña…

    April,
As a season ticket holder and knowing the amount of snow we have seen late in the year. We would love to see you maintain weekday operation through the end of April if possible.
    Thanks

    Hi Chris –
I will certainly pass along your suggestion. However, we are unlikely to extend our mid-week operations. Most other ski resorts shut down completely in early to mid-April because they simply can’t afford to be open. We are fortunate that we’ve been able to sustain the extra weekends, but it would not be possible to extend mid-week without a significant increase in the Season Pass prices in order to off-set the costs of operating with so few mid-week visitors.

What about a 3 day weekend?

  5. April Says:

    Hi Jim –
I will pass that suggestion along, as well to see if that’s a viable option. Thanks for writing in!

    Hi April,

My family and I LOVE the attitude that Brundage has had about Bonus Weekends over the last few years! Its great to be able to keep skiing as long as the snow allows us – We’d be there even if you were only able to be open for 1 day per weekend! Keep up the great work and let’s try to make it to JUNE this year!! That would be AWESOME!
