Spring in the Mountains

05/18/10

It’s no surprise that spring weather in the mountains changes all the time. The saying is, “if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes, it will change.”

But that doesn’t mean us mountain folk never get surprised or awed by what storms through. Yesterday afternoon, a giant black cloud descended over McCall, and a few minutes later, the sky cracked open and dropped quarter-sized hail with a fury. This came on a ‘springlike’ day that had reached nearly 70 degrees.

It’s not high-quality, but if you turn up the volume, you’ll get a feel for it, and like me, you’ll feel for those working outside who were caught in this sudden burst of spring. — April
