The focus of the festival is on supporting regional musicians, bringing increased tourism to Adams and Valley Counties and providing a vibrant music festival that lessens the social and ecological impacts on our community.

“We’re really excited about the commitment of Idaho ME to grow this event into an annual tradition, and also to make sure that it continues to have a positive impact on the community,” said resort spokesperson, April Russell. “Music lovers can enjoy great music in a spectacular setting, and feel good about supporting the event.”

The Idaho-Down has been selected as a pilot project for the Council for Responsible Events Certification Program. Much like the US Green Building Council’s LEED Certification program, the event will attain credits for measures taken to reduce waste, lessen the impact on energy and climate, reduce materials used, and reach out to the community.

Based on the credits, The Idaho-Down will be certified, silver, gold, or platinum. A carbon offset project is also underway. The projected carbon output for the event will be calculated, and trees will be planted in McCall and New Meadows to offset the impacts of the Idaho-Down on our community. The Idaho Wildlife Federation will be a beneficiary for the event. In addition, Lake Shore Disposal will be hauling and donating a 20-yard recycling facility for the festival’s recycling program.

Regular Full-Service Lift Operations to Continue Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

McCALL, ID – Brundage Mountain Resort is warning mid-week hikers and bikers that ALL trails within the ski area boundary will be closed Mondays through Thursdays through the end of October. Extensive construction and logging projects will be underway all across the slopes which will make it hazardous for riders and walkers.

The mid-week closure area reaches from the Brundage Mountain parking lot all the way to the summit. Brundage Mountain is asking the local media and the Forest Service to help spread the word of the closure, as it will also affect recreationalists who might access the area from FS Road 488 or the Brundage Lookout Road on the backside.

Downhill mountain bike trails will be cleared each week by Friday morning so that Brundage can continue its normally scheduled lift service, which runs weekly from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Lifts will also operate Monday, September 6 for the Labor Day holiday.

“We’ll have a lot of work going on across the mountain Mondays through Thursdays all summer and into the fall,” said resort spokesperson April Russell. “The good news is that the mid-week work schedule will allow us to operate both Downhill Mountain Biking and our popular Scenic Chairlift Rides as we traditionally have on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.”

Brundage Closes Season With Fresh Powder, Reports Best Season Yet

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Thirteen inches of new snow awaited skiers and snowboarders who showed up at Brundage Mountain today to celebrate the ski area’s final day of the 2009/2010 season. This is only the second time in the resort’s history that it has operated in the month of May. Brundage Mountain is the only ski resort in Idaho to operate into the month of May this season. Late season snowfall in late March and through the month of April allowed Brundage to extend its regular season for the past three weekends.

Snow was falling as hundreds of snow lovers turned out to enjoy the impressive conditions. Resort operators had even more to celebrate as Brundage Mountain is reporting its most successful season to date. The ski area is reporting record revenues and a record Early Season Pass sale, both in the total number of season pass holders and revenues.

“We want to thank our longtime supporters and also our new season pass holders for contributing to the continued success of Brundage Mountain,” said resort spokesperson, April Russell.

The last time Brundage Mountain was able to operate in May was during the 2007/2008 season, when the resort had near-record season snowfall of 428 inches. In comparison, this season’s cumulative total is a modest 245 inches.

“We’re very proud to be able to report such robust business in a year with modest snowfall and challenging economic conditions,” said Russell. “We attribute our success to our ongoing efforts to improve the experience for our guests and to invest in upgrades that directly affect the quality of the time they spend here.”

In 2007/2008, Brundage Mountain invested in two new chairlifts, the Lakeview Lift and the Bear Chair. This opened up new terrain and continues to help the ski area maintain short lift lines and uncrowded slopes even as business levels rise. Over the past three seasons, the resort has upgraded its grooming fleet, with two new Prinoth BR 350 groomers and a winch cat. This equipment has allowed the mountain to provide higher quality slope conditions during periods with modest snowfall. Brundage has also invested in an ongoing brush cutting program, which allows for more skiable off-trail terrain early in the season or when snow levels are lower. In 2008/2009, Brundage also constructed a new mid-mountain food and beverage facility to help ease crowding in the base area lodge.

Brundage has also invested considerable human resources in a program it calls “Focus on the Guest”. This continued effort focuses on offering the highest levels of customer service possible.

“We’ve worked hard to get input from our guests and put their suggestions into practice,” said Russell. “That feedback has made it possible for us to invest in things that directly benefit the visitors. I think our customer base is noticing and that support shows up in the form of a healthy bottom line.”

Season Extended Again – Last Day is Saturday, May 1

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Brundage Mountain Resort will continue its remarkable run and extend the 2009-2010 winter season in to May, marking only the second time the resort has done so during its nearly 50 year history.   Following the success of two Bonus Weekends already this spring, Brundage Mountain will remain closed mid-week and then open for its final day of the season, Saturday, May 1. “Bonus Weekends” Added April 17 & 18 and April 24 & 25

BRUNDAGE MOUNTAIN EXTENDS SEASON THROUGH END OF APRIL, POSSIBLY BEYOND

‘Bonus Weekends’ Added April 17 & 18, April 24 & 25

A huge blast of fresh powder has blessed Brundage Mountain with some of the best snow conditions of the entire season, and the McCall, Idaho ski area now plans to stay open on weekends AT LEAST through the end of April.

Brundage Mountain plans to be open seven days a week through April 11, and has now added two “Bonus Weekends” to the season, Saturday, April 17th and Sunday, April 18th as well as Saturday, April 24th and Sunday, April 25th.

Snow conditions and snow depths at Brundage Mountain are the best they’ve been all season. The resort has had 40” inches of fresh snow since March 21st, more snow than it got for the entire month of February! The base now measures 58-84 inches, and mid-winter snow conditions exist both on the groomed runs and off trail in the powder.

“Apparently, Winter decided to show up late this year,” said resort spokesperson, April Russell. “So we’ve decided to stay open late so our visitors don’t miss out on the excellent skiing and riding this spring.”

Four chairlifts will operate during the Bonus Weekends, and all essential mountain services will be available. Children 11 & under are invited to ski for free for the first two Bonus Weekends, and all other age groups will enjoy a $10 discount off the regular full-day lift ticket prices.

Prices are as follows for April 17-18, April 24-25:

Kids 11 & Under – FREE

Juniors (12-17) and Seniors (70+)  -  $27

Adults (18 – 69) –  $44

With the new snowfall and recent low temperatures, resort operators are confident that slope conditions will remain favorable into late April, and possibly into May.

Brundage Mountain will be assessing snow conditions and visitor interest in the coming weeks in hopes of adding even more bonus weekends.

Exciting events and savings planned for April 10 & 11

Whether you’re into old-school racing or new-school tricks, there’s something for you next weekend at Brundage.

The MSRT Marathon is a 2+ mile race down Brundage Mountain’s longest green run. The challenge is to keep up your speed on the flats and make it to the bottom! Proceeds from this event benefit the McCall Ski Racing Team.

The Brundage Cup Freestyle Jam Final will also be held on Saturday, April 11 and is the culmination of a season-long series in the re-vamped Brundage Mountain Terrain Park.

Sunday, April 11th, Brundage introduces a brand new event, the “Snow Battle”. It’s like a paint-ball war but with snowballs flying instead of paint!

Sunday, April 11th is also a Second Sunday Pass Holder Bonus Day. That means Brundage Mountain Season Pass Holders can bring a friend for free, and Bogus Basin Pass Holders will enjoy half-priced lift tickets.
