Salmon River Raft Types ~ Idaho White Water Rafting
We offer several types of boat configurations, each with its own special characteristics. Choose your style. And remember, in larger groups we can mix-and-match all styles.
The guide can control the boat with oars mounted on the rear of the boat, but power comes from the crew. This is the boat of choice. It has the most power and can tackle the biggest waves and holes. Combines the excitement of paddle raft with the relaxation of an oar boat.
The guide does all the work. Good for someone who wants to kick-back and soak up the sun. This is the best boat for the younger kids and is a good boat if you plan on bringing lots of gear.
For the more adventuresome. Get close, get wet! This craft works out well in larger groups where participants can take turns in the IK. Does not require previous experience or brains. Good entertainment for those of us in rafts!
The Guide steers, forward power is up to the crew. The Guide uses verbal commands (sometimes known as screaming and yelling) to control the raft. Everyone must paddle.
We use this boat on extended trips, such as the 2-day and 4-day trips, to carry the kitchen, tents, sleeping bags, your personal gear and the food.
